The macOS Developer Preview is offered as a free update to existing apps. New apps as well as apps that ship with third-party updates will have the developer preview installed before launch.
The App Drawer is a very simple thumbnail booster that ships with the OS X 10.10.3. It displaces third-most frequently tabbed apps, and often, top-ranked apps in App Store and iTunes, for you to automatically keep in the “Drawer” section of the Dock.
Apple first developed the “dock drawer” as a feature that allowed users to drag devices to the “App” area of the Start screen, and right-click in it.
These drawers were not organized to make them more available to the user. With the release of the OS 10.12, Apple introduced the “LockDock” functionality, which displaced second-most-popular apps and contained the primary focus of the new “App Drawers”. The “LockingDock”, which is independent of the “do-nothing” experience, is accessible by enabling the “Safe to Go” feature.
The “Do Nothing” area also automatically resolves app launchers when all running apps are cleared.
On iOS, a series of boxes are included in the Documents app, all of which, when opened, automatically crop to the small flat area in the top-right corner.
There are a number of people who have used Dock for a very good reason. Over the years, the look and feel of Dock has evolved, and is one of the best ways to work with code.
